Oh my god, how excited am I? DSQUARED is finally back online with a new hosting provider!! Here’s the short version of what happened…I swear it’s the short version (some of which I outlined in my previous post):
My account with Bluehost was suspended on February 10th for occupying too many “connections” and hosting copyrighted material. According to tech support, these things needed to be fixed before my account could be restored. I asked tech support for a list of the files in question and their recommendation on how many files to delete from my server to ease the amount of connections happening with my account. They were unable to answer either question and directed me to email the abuse department. I emailed the abuse department asking for this specific information and on the 11th, get a response saying: “You need to optimize your account so that it is not causing performance problems. Please also remove any files that are copyrighted. Please let us know when this has been completed and then we will reactivate your website.” No s**t. I call tech support, speak with one tech, then another and then someone in the abuse department who says that even with proof of permission on my end, they still cannot host the files. At this point, I’ve talked to at least six different people via chat, email and phone who all tell me what is wrong with my account, but cannot supply me with any information to fix it. Frustrated, I give up for the day. On the 12th I call back to try again and am now told that my account is permanently suspended, and there is nothing anyone at Bluehost can do to turn it back on. Now I have to look into a new hosting service and it takes an additional week to transfer domains and another two days for me to go through all my files, re-upload everything and make sure it’s all working. I filed with the BBB against Bluehost a few days ago since I was not provided with the information needed to fix my account before it was permanently suspended.
What an effin’ week. So now I get to play catch up, and believe me, I’ve been stocking up on all the great stuff people have been sending me. You’ll have to forgive this post, due to the massive amount of songs, I’m simply going to post them without introduction. It sucks, I know. The artists and songs deserve hype and recognition but there’s just too many of them and I’m leaving the country tomorrow for a week so I have lots of prep to do! By the way, this also means you won’t get another post until I come back next weekend!
Also, new DSQUARED policy, I will only be keeping the most recent six months of songs on my server – just an FYI. One last thing, if any of you notice broken links, please let me know. My database was lost by Bluehost last week so I had to recover posts through the external program I use to post. I managed to salvage about 90% of my posts and I’m hoping they are intact.
