If you’re in Dallas, I will be there tomorrow night for Disqo Disco – a fantastic Tuesday night that has hosted other blog artists like Greg of Panda Toes (who I will be playing for up in New Hampshire in May). I’m super excited about this night – I should have a few guest list spots so if you’re interested in coming, hit me up at dani@danideahl.com! BTW, I’ll be posting the results of the survey this week – thanks again to all of you for participating – it was very informative for me :-)
Afghan Raiders sent over this remix of The Faint’s “Mirror Error.” It will take some majorly creative mixing to put this one in a set, but will be well worth it. Though not a traditional four to the floor format, it would still work perfectly within an electro set, given the synth work and tempo. Regardless of if you’re jamming to this in your car or at a club, the feel of the remix is very pretty and sexy – me likee.

Group Pance Party sent over their new EP consisting of four tracks. I will say I’m not too fond of their name, but I am fond of two of the tracks on the EP. “Big Mouth” has more groove than the other songs, focusing on vocals with plenty of background to make the track sound round and full. Out of all the offerings, this one feels the most complete to me idea-wise. “Fun Factory” is also quite fun, but much harder and in your face. I wish there was more variation overall. Granted, the main hook is quite catchy, but little changes can make all the difference.

Oh Barletta how do I love thee – these three remixes are quite hot, and are of three tracks I absolutely adore – “Warp” by the Bloody Beetroots, “Understand This Groove” by Sound Factory and “Leave The World Behind” by the Swedish House Mafia. Each remix stays pretty true to the original and are produced very well. Nothing I hate more than a remix that makes the original so unrecognizable that the effort becomes pointless. Each remix is great in its own right – “Leave This World Behind” with low filter sweeps and a disco-house like vibe, “Understand This Groove” with those wonderful breaks that have the original piano and of course…”Warp.” One, two, whoop whoop!
