Git Yer Club On Posted by admin

Got some clubbier options for you this time than I normally do, but oh are they good. Seriously, I’m really excited to be writing this post and sharing these tunes with you. Makes me want to fast forward to Saturday night. Speaking of which, this happens about oh, once every six months, but I have Saturday night off – wee! If you are in Chicago, not only will Danger be playing at The Abbey Pub, but Nathan Suh from the magnificent band The Assembly will be DJing at The Continental this Saturday night. Between the two it will be a night of listening to some rockin’ tunage and hopefully getting a bit blitzed in the process.

Paul Anthony and ZXX are back with yet another remix, this time of Beyonce’s “If I Were A Boy.” By the way, they are already working on another bootleg and they have filled me in on which track they are tackling – needless to say, you will not be disappointed so be sure to check back! This remix of Beyonce is very melodic – think along the lines of Dave Aude, Morgan Page, etc. Gorgeous and amps up the energy to make it a peak hour track without it being over the top. When the synths kick in around 3:30 and slowly intensify with those sweeps underneath I just fall in love.

The Disco Villains create specialty tracks as intros for several locations that they play, and this one of “Game Over” was made for a gig in Texas. You could mix it in creatively, but really, it is an intro, and a damn fun one at that. When it effortlessly kicks in at around 2:00, I can just imagine a hyped up crowd going bezerk. The programming is a little more fluid than what I’m used to hearing from the Disco Villains, but I really enjoy it.

If you’re into the likes of minimal artists like The Yank or earlier Switch tracks you’ll like Steve Gerard’s new tune “Indo Jack” – a stripped track with hand drums, vocal stabs and bleepy fills. This track continues to grow on me – the thing I think I particularly like about it is that I can see it working in a relatively low key setting as well as a big-room environment with the right set up.

This version of Deadmau5’s “Faxing Berlin” is unusual in that it lends a vocal courtesy of Milwaukee rock group Fever Marlene. The timing is ever so slightly off in a couple parts, but I have to admit, the vocal does add some depth to the tune. It is definitely recognizable to a degree throughout, but after the drop at 5:00 is when the remix really tips its hat to the original. Overall iamxl’s unique touches to the tune breathe new life into it. BTW, this the exclusive blog to get the 320 version of the tune!

Can we ever really get enough of Tittsworth’s “WTF”? Perhaps not, and Plant Music is now releasing the Smoke & Mirrors remix for the blogging community to distribute. I really love this remix. Little touches like the video-game bleep on the 4 count help keep things moving and let the different parts play off each other. Overall it’s more of a dub than a proper remix, but heck, the hook is there and the moment that drops, we all know what we’re listening to.

Barletta gets a gold star this week for delivering three amazing re-edits and remixes. The first two, edits of “Township Funk” and “Bring The Noise” retain much of the original while sliding a few alternate noises and synths in to shuffle things up. It’s enough to put them in the rotation just to watch peoples’ reaction when they figure out they know the tracks, but not quite like this. The last, their remix of Obscene Kidz “Chiller Dans Les Clubs” is, well, awesome. Well thought out and an absolute banger.
