Whitney Houston was laid to rest in a private ceremony in Westfield, New Jersey yesterday. She was buried next to her father John Houston at the Fairview Cemetery. She was memorialized at the Hope Baptist Church, the very same church she sang in as a child. The traditional Baptist homegoing ceremony was invite only, but was nationally televised and streamed on Livestream. READ MORE ABOUT THE CEREMONY AT MTV.COM

Social Media Week was just completed and one panel in New York City was of particular interest. Called “How Social Media Has Fueled the Explosive Growth of EDM in America,” the panel featured names like Zev Norotsky, founder of Elecktro Magazine and Lee Anderson, talent rep at AM Only. Notable comments included that EDM is intrinsically tied to social media, getting retweeted is like the new autograph and sites like Twitter and Facebook help fans feel like they’re part of a bigger community with the same interests.
