New Year's Eve!!!

New year’s eve is finally upon us! I hope you all have great plans. I’ll be playing at The James Hotel in downtown Chicago for the third year in a row. Thank goodness, this year I get off at a reasonable 1am. In past years they had me play until past two, but the crowd always got too rowdy – a girl last year around 2am sat in the middle of the lobby and puked into her own lap. The year before, a guy shoved some other guy’s girlfriend around the same time and nearly started a brawl next to the check-in desk. Who knows if stopping at 1am will really curb the craziness, but I do know that at 1:05 I’ll be up in my suite with friends starting the afterparty.

So, for all you still looking for a few new tunes to play tonight, I happily oblige with a few top shelf bangers!

I’m becoming quite the fan of The Sonixx, who has consistently been submitting material as of late. This newest, a remix of “Love Hate” is a thick, synth laden high energy tune with a deliciously fun breakdown that empties out into drums and a couple hi notes to carry it along. Not for the faint of heart.

Voyager is a paltry sixteen years old. Can I say that again? He’s SIXTEEN FOR GOD’S SAKE. And to add insult to injury, he’s only been into dance music for under a year. Screw child prodigies and their holy awesomeness. This take on Crooker’s “Love To Edit” is produced effortlessly and is so so clean. With everything from poppy snares to nice, bright hats and synths so clean you can hear every crackle in the distortion, I am instantly in love with Voyager, and I hate his sixteen year old guts at the same time.

Mustard Pimp has a new EP out, with titles based upon the Parisian transit system – RER, or RĂ©seau Express RĂ©gional. Two of the edits caught my attention, the RER C and RER D, both for their hard hitting tonalities. The RER D edit is darker, with a more driving and rolling mainline while the RER C has a choppier feel with a fun female vocal.

Ok, remember when I said that FnDannyBoy and DJ Kue should have a remix battle? Apparently I wasn’t the only person to think so and the two have both remixed P-Money’s “Everything” and present them here for your listening (and voting) pleasure. I won’t say a damn word about either track because I do have a favorite, but I’m curious about what you all think as well. If you prefer one over the other, leave your vote in the comments!
