Humpday Helper: Bro Safari is a One Man Party

I haven’t really posted anything moombahton-centric around these parts in a while, so when I came across a brand-spankin-new uber mix from moombah-man-of-the-hour, Bro Safari, I knew I had no choice but to unleash that monster here. Criss-crossing the aural globe from the likes of Evol Intent to Ludachrist, and beyond, soundsmith Knick Weiller has, as of late, been most renowned for tearing up dancefloors with his moombahcore centric Bro Safari project. In fact, he recently destroyed the last Moombahton Massive here in DC. So, it should come as no surprise that his edition to the Media Contender podcast series is as eclectic as it is fiery.

This mix is sure to please the most fickle party goer. OF course it hits hard with the moombah, but also cuts across sounds of dubstep, electro, club, and more. It also eclipses most similar mixes in that it’s dynamic isn’t afraid to both hit hard, and also hush to a deep place, all while refusing to lock into only one tempo. As for the names, beyond the obvious, Bro Safari, you’ll find everyone from Schlacthofbronx, to JWLS, to Will Bailey, Autoerotique, John Kwest, NumberNin6, Chuckie, Munchi, Nadastrom, and literally so many more. If this mix doesn’t get you moving, then I’ll be sure to send flowers to put on your grave. But where will you be?

You find yourself lost in a sea of a thousand arms thrusting towards the sky, in what could possibly be the largest event you’ve ever been to. This is not a Dj night, not a concert, this is the very definition of a rave, and a massive at that. Somewhere beyond the dizzying towers of speakers, to hypnotic grid of lasers, the strobe of projections, and the veritable army of scantly-clad go-go dancers, there sits a small shrine, housing the selektor, who for hours, (days, months, years? Who can tell) has been channeling walls of sound as a tool to wield the countless crowd like an oar against the sea. The numberless glow sticks, furry caps and boots, hula hoops, backpacks, and candy bracelets swirl into one pulsing entity of beat, as the raves surges on for hours, days, months, years….
