I love Christmas – I’m a bit of a holiday dork actually. I love getting stocking stuffers, cooking on Christmas day and I give the best damn gifts ever. This will probably be the only post from me until the weekend what with the festivities and relatives in town, just an FYI. That and a friend who is a chef gave me a bottle of homemade Bailey’s as a gift last night so….yeah….
So, since I probably won’t get to say it any closer to Christmas, happy holidays to you all!
And yes, there is music. Last week I played in Vegas with the Disco Villains who were nice enough to send over a plethora of tunes to me after we both got home. The newest of the bunch was a remix of The Gorillaz tune “Dirty Harry” – a staccato heavy, stab ridden take of the song that actually doesn’t borrow much from the original, instead twisting the few parts that are used into interesting directions.

How much do we all love Buffetlibre? These guys not only put together the most interesting projects, they involve the best in the business to help them out. This most recent track they are sharing with everyone is Buffetlibre and Sidechains taking on Little Boots‘ “Love Kills.” It’s absolutely divine. Really. I love the play with the hi hat and drum patterns, the strong melody line, the gorgeous acoustic breakdown…everything.

Way to appeal to my hometown. This next one is a Fantastadon remix of Shala‘s “The Great Chicago Winter.” Yes, they are legendary here. The track is a little over compressed for my taste but aside from that it’s incredibly solid. The vocals are great and sit in the track well and the pacing of the synth programming gives the track great movement. Plus, it’s about Chicago.

The Sonixx recently sent a track over and now here’s an original. The mastering could have used a little more punch but I love the little touches in this song that show there’s a lot of potential. I’m a sucker for sidechaining and I love the upper synth that bleeps along for the majority of the tune.
