May marks the two year anniversary of the artist known as Comic Strips and the below EP is his gift to everyone as a celebration.

The title track, “Thrill Ride,” is of the 110 BPM family.  It starts off with a cinematic tone and builds up to a pretty aggressive drop.  Edgy synths battle Hi-Pitched tidbits while some dude is saying “Holy S***”.

The second track, “THNDR” is a little different than Comic Strips’ typical 128 stuff.  I.e. it’s of the big room variety, or so he says. Have no fear, this is not Levels 2.0. There’s still plenty of dirt rubbed in to make us all feel at home.

Moar backed up posty posts! Craig Williams and PHNM are both buddies of mine and recently got in the studio to make this re-work of Robyn’s “None of Dem.” The result is a bass line driven tune with Robyn’s vocals sounding slightly ominous over the top. It’s something I feel like I should be listening to at 4am while all decked out in dangerous looking, yet hot Gaultier with yet another glass of champagne.

A funky take on Lana Del Rey’s track “Born to Die” Kyle Rapps and Diwon turn the succulent robotic original into a rap anthem. Opening up with a punching verse and keeping the music a float, costuming this song in a whole other genre. Turn it up and blast it this track is definitely something you’ll want to share.

And so begins the boatload of posts so I can begin to catch up with all the ish that’s been sitting in the inbox! Expect an overflow of posts this weekend to make up for it. First up is the The Dirty Tees remix of Wildcat! Wildcat!’s Mr. Quiche. I’m currently collaborating with these guys on an AMAZING track, and so of course I have to give them some (warranted) love on this remix.

It’s different from what we would normally post here on the blog, but prepare to fall in lust with this lazy, echoed and reverb dripping mix. It’s like being in highschool and laying on the car of your hood at makeout point with a clear sky and full moon – slightly nostalgic, romantic and beautiful.

The White Panda is a pair of boys with a creative edge. Listening to Bittersweet Donald shows just how crafty they can be when mashing up Mac Miller’s corky “Donald Trump” laced with Verve’s classic “Bittersweet Symphony” conceiving Bittersweet Donald. The name itself is fitting for a track as juicy as this one. It makes you want to rock to the lyrics and sway to the music all at the same time, giving you an experience of absolute radness.

Midnight Conspiracy have constantly proven their worth in mountainous grains of sand, crafting a hi-energy combination of electro, dubstep, club, and bass music of all sorts into a package that makes every crowd jump, and the Dead Fame 003 Mix only underlines this for emphasis. This container of tracks is not for the happy hour set. This curation is for those who begin the party while the sun still hangs in the sky, and refuse to back down until the sun is once again fixed in that same said spot.

Rolling things in quietly, with just a dash of mystery, the opening collaboration between Midnight Conspiracy and Cenob1te,”The Eye,” quickly gives way to a tidal wave of sound, that sets the tone for the rest of the mix, as it side steps into Lucky Date’s sophisticated remix of, “King Kong.” Flowing out of Dirtyloud’s remix of a track I still get down for,”Kill Humans,” the current slams into a mix within a mix, where Cenob1te and Midnight Conspiracy go in for a tag-team takedown through some excellent remixes and originals. After that the course is set to oblivion with the waters raging uncontrollably through such tracks as Alvin Risk’s, “Psychotic,” (I know it’s a touch of DC pride, but I’ve had a huge crush on this track since its birth), to Downlink – “Party Alarm,” TWO Figure tracks, some Gemini, and finally sending everything over the falls with a few more epic Midnight Conspiracy and Cenob1te tracks. All in all, I’d say this half hour and change is not for the faint of heart. But I mean that as a complement, and I’d certainly hope none of our readers here fall into that category. So on that rare occasion I join you in the midweek longing for better times and brighter places, let’s all shake our fists in unison to this typhooned mix as we work for the weekend.
