Guess whose server did incomplete backups every time and has lost my SQL database? Yooooou guessed it.
I am in the middle of switching servers because Bluehost told me:
a) My site is getting too many connections at once – it is too popular for their hosting services (I swear the rep said this on the phone)
b) I was hosting songs that were deemed copyright infringement. They sent a list over and I had permission for every one. Bluehost said it didn’t matter because even if I had permission, they as a company didn’t.
My account was suspended which is when I was prompted to switch hosting services, which is when Bluehost decided to terminate my account prematurely and delete my entire file database. When I asked them to restore, it turned out every backup they had was incomplete.
I know, I should have had backups. Some of you may remember my computer crashed a couple months ago – around then was the last time I had done a backup of the database and I lost it when the laptop went kaput.
It’s been a very hard couple of weeks
UPDATE: Being resourceful rules! I remembered that Ecto, my third party program that I use to post, keeps copies of the posts within the program. By re-posting everything that was saved within Ecto I think I managed to save about 90% of my posts. There are still a few missing from the past year and a half but for the whole everything is recovered. Found cached versions of my pages as well so I could rebuild the sidebar
I definitely owe you guys some tracks – I have over a dozen I’ve been collecting that I’m itching to put up! For tonight though, sleep.
2/20/2009 UPDATE 2: As you can tell, I’m back up, and re-uploading everything! Post to come later today with much tuneage and an explanation.
Since waiting in line, buying drinks and paying to get past the door simply sucks, those in the club will have access to perks like free swag, drink tickets, access to members-only contests, mixes, free tracks and first stab at guest lists. Now that's music to anyone's ears.

glad to see your blog back up
Heya, I’ve never posted before but I thought – if there ever was a time to post it’s now. You’re site is awesome and your feedback is great, I’m a dj just starting out in New Zealand and your blogs have helped me out to no end.
Thanks Dani, you’re a legend… hope you feel better.
Short Stack
Thanks Pete and thanks Short Stack for the kind words – that means a lot to me. It’s always really cool when I hear from the people who read my site
Off to sleep!
I have a feeling this is one of the big reasons so many music blogs use sites like zshare, zippyshare, and rapidshare as opposed to uploading them onto the site itself.
You had permission, but they are more or less trying to cover their arses in case of any possible liability.
Oh well. :-\
ya know, Palms Out Sounds went through some similar BS in regards to the copyright issue – I think Google/Blogger is doing it to a lot of mp3 blogs. good to see you back though
and just in time for my Saturday gig!
Welcome back – definitely missed your voice in the blogosphere.
