Another Kid Cudi Remix? Oh My, Yes.

You guys have been fantastic with the survey so far! It will remain as a sticky at the top of the blog for the next week or so to ensure that I get most of the regular readers to participate. I only have a minute here before I have to split for the evening, but I wanted to hustle and get some new things to you. BTW, some exciting news should be coming soon including additional touring in Mexico and a feature with a magazine!

I know you all love Paul Anthony & ZXX – I do too. Paul is one of the nicest people I know and he is a bad-ass producer. Lucky for us all, he just delivered with a new remix, this time of Kid Cudi’s “Day N Nite.” I know, I know – we’ve all heard enough remixes of this song, right? If any track recently has been beaten to death, it’s this one. However, Paul & ZXX give a fresh take to it that reminds me of a harder electro version of the Bimbo Jones mix. Finally, a great remix that lies between the ubiquitous Crookers take and the more mellow Bimbo Jones version. By focusing on the instrumentals underneath and limiting the vocal, it further helps to make this a nice new addition and not “fuck…again?”

A bit of cheese next, thanks to DJ Kue… this most recent mix is of R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion” (fucking great tune, by the way). In terms of integration I think this is one of Kue’s most successful attempts. When Kue first started sending material in, it had a definite pattern, heavy synths, breakdown with the original song, build up, then more heavy synths. This though is very well thought out, carrying the original vocals and melody throughout. The focus, essentially, is less on DJ Kue, and more on R.E.M. and creating a well-rounded mix. Kudos.

I haven’t heard much from Trash Yourself in a while and now they’ve suddenly popped up again with two new tracks, “Touch” and “Die.” While you can purchase the original of “Touch” via Beatport, we were sent over a remix by Kids At The Bar. Granted, the vocals are a bit pedestrian (mostly involving variations on kiss me, lick me, fuck me…you get the idea), but the production is fun with varied percussion and spastic synths. It’s a nice four and a half minutes as well, which I always appreciate. “Die,” is the more interesting of the two, produced in tandem with The Toxic Avenger, promising high-intensity fun with a slight Bloody Beetroots feel.
